Dick Beers lived down the street from me and we rode our bikes together to Squaw Peak. In high school, he and several other boys would hang out with my sister Jackie and me after school and play pool at our house. We spent late hours as a group speculating about growing up and the future of the world. He moved to Utah after his junior year and went on to become a family practice doctor in California. He died of a heart attack in his 50s while getting ready to go for a run with his daughter.

I knew Dick well, from church as well as from CHS. I remember him as cheerful, smart, and very energetic. I found this obituary from 2003 online: https://www.deseretnews.com/article/993002/Obituary-Richard-Hosier-Beers.html
He died too, too young. Carpe diem (as Mr. Ricks would have said).
